Drug-disposal bins were installed at the entrances of Las Vegas McCarran Airport on Tuesday, giving outbound passengers a last chance to anonymously get rid of certain substances.
The bins were set up a year after the state of Nevada decriminalised marijuana. However, despite recreational users being allowed to smoke pot, it is still considered illegal to be in possession of drugs at an airport.
One of the passengers remarked, “I feel like it’s a good thing. It gives us a choice. I think it’s fine that we can’t bring it in public places. It’s good that we get to throw it away, or get that choice.”
