Vogue Robinson has been named Clark County’s new poet laureate, assuming the role for Greater Las Vegas and Clark County June 1, 2017 and succeeding Bruce Isaacson in the two-year position. She will enjoy the freedom to bring her creativity and excitement for poetry and spoken word to the Las Vegas Valley arts scene. Robinson earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in English from San Diego State University. She student taught at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in San Diego before relocating to Las Vegas in 2013 where she began working with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Gear Up program tutoring students at K.O. Knudson Middle School in English and math. She became a serious poet in San Diego. Since moving to the Las Vegas Valley, she has participated in poetry competitions. She has served as a member of and editor for the Battle Born Slam Team since 2013 and competed three times at the national level. She has organized other public readings, coached and taught student poets and writers, and served as a judge at youth poetry competitions.
