Gov. Sandoval delivers State of State address Tuesday

Gov. Brian Sandoval is proposing a 10 percent excise tax on the retail sale of recreational marijuana in Nevada to help finance about a 10 percent increase in the state budget over the next two years.


Question 2 Would Bolster Nevada Economy

In July 2016, the YES on Question 2 campaign released an Economic and Fiscal Benefits Analysis prepared by Las Vegas-based RCG Economics in conjunction with the Marijuana Policy Group (MPG). The 88-page report – available at – provides detailed sales, tax, employment, and total economic activity projections for Nevada from the passage of Question 2 and the establishment of a regulated, adult-use marijuana industry.


Las Vegas police shot at while conducting traffic stop

Police say they were conducting a routine traffic stop when they heard several gunshots. Police say they felt the gunfire was directed at them.


Las Vegas News for Saturday, January 14th

Police have no one in custody after an armed robber made off with items from a jewelry store near Suncoast Casino on Friday evening. Officers searched the casino floor after responding to reports of an armed robbery at MJ Christensen Diamond Center. No one was hurt and the robber made off with an undisclosed amount of jewelry before driving away. Police have found the suspects car, but have not yet located the man.
Family has identified the woman found dead Friday morning near an apartment complex in North Las Vegas as Damonea (Da-mon-ya) Hull. North Las Vegas Police responded to the apartment complex on Donna Street for reports of a body around 8:30. Officers later confirmed the woman had been fatally shot, and the death was being ruled as a homicide.
And a Sunrise Hospital employee was robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of the hospital on Friday afternoon. A man threatened the employee with a gun before making off with their cell phone. The employee was not injured, and the suspect is not in custody.
